I am planning to start in Cairns around the 24th of May and have decided to stay at the northern green backpackers as it has the best reviews, Is anyone going to Cairns around this time!! Or has anyone been who can give some advice on were is best to go and see things, Im thinking I might stay in Cairns for a few months and get a job then travel down the east coast once its gets warmer.
May and June are a good time to be in Cairns, around that time it's usually pretty busy and finding a job might be hard. While you're in Cairns do an outer reef trip and visit the Daintree and Atherton Tablelands, it might be worth heading down the coast and getting a job in Mackay or Townsville depending on how you go finding one in Cairns.
How long do you have to travel down the east coast?
Thanks for the advice on places to go, I am a Beauty Therapist an have one interview set up for when I get there in a 5* Hotel in a area called palm cove??? Do you no of that area, also a friend of mine worked in a salon for 6 months in Cairns and she is going to get the details for that salon to, so Im hoping I shouldnt struggle to find a job.
At the moment I have as much time as I want really to travel down the east coast, I have a whv so am just going to go with the flow an see how I feel, But am hoping to stay in Cairns if I like it and get a job for about 3 or 4 months, then work my way down the east coast and ending up in Syndey in nov time, but I no plans change so dont want to plan to much.
hey, I go to cairns in september, you'll have to let me know where to go, what to do etc...
If they need any lads to work in the beauty salon you can put in a good word for me if you want haha x
Sounds like you've got the job under control
Palm Cove is actually north of Cairns, when I was there it was pretty quiet, because it was mostly resorts where older people stayed. I actually spent a fair bit of time at Ellis Beach which is the next beach up and quite a nice area - I might have a photo somewhere if you're interested.
