Hey there! Where exactly are you going in the US? I dont know much about golf actually (aside from the fact that most of my friends fight with their husbands when they are off to play golf every weekend) but I can tell you that Florida has some of the best courses in the country. Florida and California have very good courses and there are others in the NE, the Carolinas and Georgia but if your travel plans are too soon, cold weather may not be very good for golf in those areas. The NE just had the largest snowstorm in years last week!!
If you are passing through Florida, I can tell you some of the courses I think you should visit. I can ask one of my golf fanatic friends (it also depends on the budget cause the prices are very different from course to course).
At least in Florida, I can tell you that golf is very popular, especially as I way to "entertain" people for business meetings, also people "our age" (30s) but mostly men, golf just about every weekend (weather permitting) but also one thing to remember that this is golf season (through April) so the prices are usually a bit more expensive. The prices go down in the summer here (June-August) when it is too hot to golf of course.
Aside from that, ask me a question and if I dont have an answer, I can try to get you one. Keep in touch with your plans!
