Travel Forums Europe counting Schengen

futureplans has indicated that this thread is about Schengen Visa

Hi all. This is just another Schengen muddle that Im hoping to get some clarification on.

I am from Malaysia and I automatically get the Schengen visa upon arrival, and I understand that I can only stay a maximum of 90 days per 180 days.

I was already in Switzerland from 16-28 April (12 days) and now I am back in Asia.
- So my 180 days count starts from the point of entry date and therefore expires on October 16th (right?)
- This means I still should have another 78 days left to be in the zone until October 16th (right?)

Now, If I go back to Switzerland lets say in September and then leave by 16th October:
- Can I then go back into the Schengen zone lets say a few days after? Will this then start a new 90/180 days count (17th Oct - 17th Apr)?

Hope my question is clear and hope you can help clarify.

Thanks :)

You might want to check that with some Schengen ambassy near You, but from what I've heard after that 180 days You can come again and apply for a new visa uppon arrival.

You get a new 90 days out of 180, that's right. Legally, just one day outside of Schengen (Oct 17 in your case) would be enough, but from experience it's better to leave a few days in between the two 180 days periods.
Have some proof ready that you've been outside, just in case you get questioned, like receipts from a hotel for example.
