Hola !!

I'm planning a trip to SA in October, I had a route in mind but what I had planned would leave me in Peru, wanting to do the normal stuff but think the rain might ruin/halt my trip - any thoughts!?

My initial plan was:

Oct 11 - Fly to Quito, climatise for a few days, plan and head to the volcanoes, Im into my mountaineering so wanted to try and summit Cotopaxi and Chimborazo if I can, back end October head to Galapagos for a few weeks, back to mainland Ecuador.

Nov 11 - Ingapirca, devils Nose Train etc. Vilcabamba and into Peru to Yourigamos, boat to Iquitos, couple of weeks looking around, jungle lodges etc, fly to Peru....

Now Id imagine Id hit Peru, Lima, Cusco in the start/middle of rainy season December/Jan - will this ruin my time and should I take a moment to rethink how I go about this or do I hang about near the coast or? Im a little lost!

If anyone has any idea or suggestion then Im COMPLETELY open to ideas.... !!

Im travelling on my own, male, 29 from near Manchester, UK, my marriage plans have fallen through and Ive taken my share of the savings to do something Ive always dreamt of!! I will be able to speak a basic level of spanish come October, PM me if you doing similar!

I will be travelling with upto £10k to spend, and would like to get to Oz next year too to work/travel a bit too... If anyone wanted to put how they would plan that would open my mind further!!

Adios

Steve

I really don't have any anserews to your questions, but... I'm going on October to Venezuela, for 4 weeks. I'm also travelling alone, 29years girl. So, if you're changing your plans and going to Venezuela, let me know :)

Well, you know, there are people living there and they do it even if it is raining.
Some roads may be impossible during a few days in the raining season, but it it is rare.
Going to Bolivia from Peru, go for a few days in Challapampa on Isla del sol (via Copacabana).

head to Galapagos for a few weeks

Take a close look @ what a few weeks will cost-chances are you'll be on a tour for a shorter time.

My name is Darren (29) and my story is identical to yours!
I'm from the US, just started traveling, currently living in Chapala, Mexico with family. I plan to travel down to South America in October. ( the opposite direction) I will definitely go through Quito, Ecuador as I have a good friend living there. I'm considering the bamba experience for some of the trip. Check out the link below for more info. If your open to starting in Mexico, let me know.
