I am so sorry to read about your friend areinstein. I am also suprised that the surgeon did that much surgery in one hit....should never have been allowed.
BUT.. Yes... I have had liposcution..... 12 years ago. I inherited johdpur thighs from my mum...and nothing I did could ever get rid of them. I've been working out, eating well since before my 18 year old was born. (she now has those thighs , but is otherwise slim ) We moved to the good ol' USA and after a couple of years in Boston I met a wonderful surgeon.....make a long story short... who took 1# off each thigh....and I have never looked back.:)
I also live with a genetic disorder that is progressive and disfiguring, so I should know better...but I wanted one less thing to worry about.
I am now a personal trainer and spin instructor and have just started a nutrition support group I try to teach my clients that plastic surgery really is NOT the way to go...and that we need to ignore what the media calls beauty.

Has anyone seen that show on MTV called I want a famous face?
It's just plastic surgery for all the wrong reasons. Normal people sign up to look like a celebrity. It just seems to me plastic surgery should be done to make people feel better about themselves not downplay the real person and make him/her into something he/she is not.

Wow Angela, I would think Iceland will be immune to this kind of garbage. Yes, I have seen it!! Can you believe it? I have seen people wanting to look like Britney Spears, Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, etc etc. These are 18 to 20 yr old kids doing it and come on! where is their self esteem right?

We also have other shows called:

The Swan = women are transformed into beauties to compete in a pageant against each other.

Extreme Makeover = Miracle transformations

Dr. 90210 = Documentaries of a real Beverly Hills doctor and his current practice.

I can go on and on...

There's something really deeply sinister about that show The Swan - we get that here in Ireland on TV3. I tuned in once or twice but it's pretty f#&%ed up isnt it?

Yes it is! You cant even see yourself on a mirror for three months or you are disqualified. I agree that some of these women need help and all but there is nothing a full regimen of exercise and diet couldnt fix. The rest is just taking care of yourself and your physical appearance. The world has certainly forgotten about the important things in life and while everyone focuses more on physical beauty we are certainly going the wrong direction and losing all of our values in the process.

i agree totally , some of the women don't need surgery, they just need someone to listen to them, a confidence boost, i saw teh swan the other night, well the end of it, but the girls don't look real anymore.....

Nope. We're not immune to it. My dads best friend is a plastic surgeon...
I didn't know about that Swan show but we have Extreme Makeover over here.
The only episode of I want a famous face I saw was some guy who wanted to look like Jennifer Lopez. Ok, he was a transvestite but it was still really strange.

Oh I SAW THAT!! that poor guy - he just looked so peculiar.

I saw that one too!! Nothing again gays or transvestites (spell??), I have lots of gay friends but come on! he was very strange. Like I always say...whatever rocks your boat...
