Hi Soapsuds,

Sounds like a cool trip you've got planned for Sept. What's your Itinerary? What are your plans for Tibet (my favorite place)?

You'll have to check my website for my itinery. It's way to extensive to post here... and it's not completely worked out yet. Half the fun of it, right?

Have no idea how to get into Tibet yet. Will go through China but will work it out in a month or two. Got any tips? Maybe PM me so we don't use up this thread.

Interesting to see Tibet & Taiwan listed as countries.

I list Taiwan as a country because it is a country. Although cuturely and linguistly it is very similar. Tibet is a different story.

I list Tibet as a country because in my opiniun it should be a country. Just because the Chinese invaded Tibet: killed, tourtured, and inprisoned over a million Tibetans (and continue to do so) isn't enough for me. The language, culture, etc. of the Tibetans has nothing to do with China. All China had was a bigger army, and a "heartless, ruthless attitute".

I saw the other day that the Chinese were not real happy with the way the Japanese treated them during WW2, well I'm sure the Tibetans feel the same way about the Chinese right now. The only difference is the Japanese lost the war against the Chinese (with a lot of help, or maybe China would be part of Japan now), but the Tibetans have not been as fortunate as the Chinese were after WW2.

Hey alaskangrl,

How did you like Mongolia? Where did you go in Mongolia? and what did you do? How long were you there? It's one of the few countries in Asia i haven't visited and would love to hear your first account.

PS--How long will you be in Asia total form when you left Alaska until you go back home? Sounds like you're having a great time.

HI alaskangrl,

Me again. Just realized you also visited Burma (one of my absolute favorite places!). Where did you visit in Burma? How did you like it there? Did you also find the local people to be very friendly?
