Hi All,
So just wondering what the best/economical way of getting to Vegas from LA is?
I've seen one way flights from LAX airport for $57, but concerned that about the amount of wasted time and money getting to the airport and through security etc.
Would I be better off catching a bus or driving myself? Is there anything to see enroute? It will be just myself and my wife if that makes any difference.
Thanks again you guys are legends
Mr P

Hi,
It slightly depends on your other plans as well. What kinda trip are you doing, just a few days of Vegas, or part of a longer trip in the southwest.
Things to do and see along the way include Joshua Tree NP and Death Valley NP, both a small detour, but basically nog that far.
It is about 6 hours from LA to Vegas and I wonder if buses are much cheaper than flying. Still, if there is two of you, it'll cost at least $120 for the flights (and then transfer, extra time like you say).
The smallest car will be half or even just a third of that, plus fuel. Still cheaper and not taking too much time more. And you will be able to see some great desert scenery! You could do a part of Route 66 as well....
Cheers
Michael.

Michael gave you good advice. I would rent a cheap car and drive this leg. But there is another option that I found using 'craigslist'. $37 oneway to Vegas. Good luck with your planning.

I say drive it. Hire a car at LAX and hit the road - took me 5 hours approx when I did it, plus you then have the bonus of your own car to go where you like, when you like! Also consider a trip to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon while you're over that way - both worth a visit and easily do-able with your own wheels
