hi peter
thanks for the reply
Im travelling with Emirates going via Dubai and then Singapore, not sure if we are allowed off the plane in Singapore, i havent really found that out yet. But perhaps they will redirect the plane then if Sars is still around, which i imagine it will be. But im not going to let it affect my plans....hopefully!!

Hi IrishGirl, Glad to see someone else is taking the plunge, I'm still trying to get the courage to do the same. I have my working visa now and have even been before for 2 months so I know how easy it is to meet people. Unfortunatly that was with someone else, and am very nervous of going solo. Where are you planning on going to first? Any stopovers? If I can get some courage together and get out there in the next few weeks maybe we could meet up?
If you don't mind me asking, how much $ are you taking with you, and do you plan on working??
Please email me if you get the chance. If not have a great time!!;)

Tom J,
I am going solo to Oz as well and have never even been before, at least you have a bit of an insight having been for 2 months. Be brave and take the plunge, I don't think you'll regret it if your hearts really in it.
I am so worried and then excited all at the same time, my range of emotions about it change daily. But all I know is I want to go and see whats out there.
I'm sure it's as wonderful as everyones always saying but I am nervous about whether i will make friends. As I am a bit older than the average traveller(28yrs old)
Hope to be gone by end of January, was supposed to be going at the end of December but my house sale fell through so my plans were delayed but I'm not deterred. Where are you flying into?
Do you have set plans for somewhere to stay or are you just going to wing it when you get there?
Anyway good luck I'm sure you'll have a great time.
Nikki

well can i just say to those people who are nervous about going to australia on their own that they have nothing to worry about! I left home in beginning of august, and met up with a guy who i got to know thru this forum and had a ball!!!!! It really was a brilliant time. Due to unforseen circumstances i had to come back earlier than expected, and i miss it every day! Everyone in australia is so friendly and helpful, and there are soooo many other travellers! No probs meeting people, and no worries if you are a female solo traveller.
Kris if your reading this, then thanks for a brilliant time! Hope the depression hasnt hit you too hard!!!;)
(good weekend??)

Hi sarah,

Sounds like this guy you met was a really nice bloke and you were damn lucky to meet him..........oh you mean me

I have to agree with this crazy, but amazing irish girl that the land down under is a very friendly and welcoming place. I met people within hours of arriving and spent very little time travelling on my own (allthough be weary of any irish women in Noosa Heads building giant sand turtles on the beach )
Every place you will visit will have like minded travellers to talk to and as i found out the hard way, to drink with!!
One word of advice though, dont plan too much as everything changes the moment you arrive. Just go with the flow and enjoy every moment.

I'll E-mail you soon hun as i've got a lump in my throat from reading your message

P.s The weekend was great but the reality has hit me like a pig on roller blades!

hey Kris!!! Just to clear things up...it was your idea to build the turtle!! Lets leave it at that, or these nice people at travellerspoint will think your a sandwich short of a picnic! but i guess you are welsh after all;)

Sarah hun, your obviously feeling embarassed by the whole situation so i wont say anymore and i'll keep the photos of you and the turtle (and the star fish) in a safe place so that you can keep your pride intact
