Looks like i'm gonna have to forget about trekking in Nepal. Completely gutted, but im sure i'll find somewhere in Northern India where i'll be quite content.

If anyone doesn't know yet, the King of Nepal has dismissed the entire government and has assumed full control of the country, presently there are armoured vehicles policing the street, the phonelines are down and Kathmandu airport is closed. Pretty bleak stuff. The Foreign Office in the UK are advising people not to travel.

Shame.

I know - I just found out Joe. I'm really disappointed as well. Might plan the trip in the other direction with Nepal at the end and hopefully the King might have come to his senses in a year. I read on the news this morning that it may only last for 3 months so dont strike it off your list just yet. :(

Did a bit of a websearch and found a news website for Nepal. This might be useful as the Western media tend to lose interest in these matters quite quickly if there is no sufficient violence.
