Hey Marissa

You're in for a treat - backpacking around Europe is great fun. Standard of hostels/public transport is quite good generally. Lots of different cultures all right next door to each other.

If you need any advice on Ireland or Italy I can help.

I've also been to France, Spain, POrtugal, Austria, Germany, England, Scotland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Slovenia, and Switzerland...although only for short visits to each.

But you'll get lots of help on this website!

Hi Marissa!

Fellow Canadian here. I went backpacking through Europe in the summer of 2003 (I can't believe it was that long ago!). I can give you info on whatever you need....basic travel tips, insurance, where to go and what to see, etc, etc.

Feel free to message me for info!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Hey Marissa!
Check out a funny movie about "tripping in europe"...called "EuroTrip",it's hilarious.:)I live in Finland, northern europe and I haven't been to many places in europe yet.Probably will do this Interrail-thing where you can travel through 28 countries in europe.I reckon that backpacking in europe is the thing!
All the best!

Happy planning!!

Your best bet is to search through these pages through the wealth of info already in it (especially the European forums) and also use google. After that, start asking questions on here - it doesn't matter if they sound stupid or not, but if you ask questions as opposed to just saying i want help on everything you will get ALLOT more helpful information and responses.

Lots of similar questions to this have been asked in th epast, so you will find stuff by searching the forums. The single biggest tip i can give before you start is to be relaistic and don't try and do too much. Otherwise, you end up with everything a blur and merged together as well as not enjoying yourself as much as you should, and missing lots of things. But other than that, it's up to you

Try and beak things down as well (i.e. transport, where you you want to go/countries/cities, attractions, travel hints, itineraries, packing/hat to bring etc all seperately, as you will find it easier to manage the info/planning when split up, and people are also more likely to respond to your queries.

With the exception of Portugal, i've been to every European mainland country most many, many times and lived in several, so can probably help with some of your country/travel queries.

Just post stuff here on TP, and good luck!
