Travel Forums Travel Companions Anyone going to Thailand July 2011 onwards??

Hi everyone, Im Zoe and Im 24 from Cheshire, England. I'm currently planning to go to Thailand as soon as possible (July/Aug time is probably realistic) and my friend who I was going to meet with is now going somewhere else. So I'm still planning on going but Im a bit weary of going alone.

Ive never been travelling anywhere before and am kinda scared and dont know what to expect. Im hoping to travel all round Thailand for 3-4 months or so, working where possible and wondered if anyone else was going alone or with friends who I could perhaps chat to.

I havent booked anything yet, altho I have an appointment with the travel nurse next week to see what jabs etc I need.

Would love to get in touch with people in the same situation who I could perhaps meet with!

Thanks :)

Peace and love,

Zoe xoxo

Hey Zoe, my names Terry an Im 22, where abouts from cheshire are you from? I'm from Ellesmere port, near chester, I was supoosed to going round india and SE asia, through thailand and malaysia etc then going to australia, but my friend i was going with pulled out on me, and i dont have as much money as i thought I would have so im going straight to australia hopefully for at least a year, working and travelling, and cos all my plans changed literally about 2 weeks ago i have only just finalised flights and stuff, i'm flying out in 29 days, so Im scared as hell too now but i decided i definately wanted to go, I think goin on your own to meet people will be better than not goin at all, but its my first time travelling so far away and on my own and I don't really know how to go about it all so i'm just gonna jump right into it and hope it works out haha x

Hey Terry. I live in Frodsham not far from you at all. Im looking to go to Bangkok and travel round Thailand at the end of July for 3-4 months or so.

I had a friend I was going with too, but she changed her plans. Now I have another friend who's looking to go too but I kinda just feel like [email protected] be let down so just wanna get everything booked and go.

I havent booked flights or anything yet, but I know its definitley what I wanna do. I havent really looked in to Austrailia, dont know how to go about getting a visa or anything and not sure I have the money to go.

It is all really scary yeh, especially never having done anything like this before. But Im so sick of my life here have nothing really to stay for so finally travelling seems like the best thing to do xx

Frodsham thats like 20 minutes from here, coming on to a world travel forum as well, small world.

If you are set on travelling I would just bite the bullet and book it, it will be cheaper the earlier you book it and then give the other friend the details and if they book it then great, but if they don't then oh well.

When my friend pulled out I really wasn't sure what to do, there was a couple of days where I'd convinced myself that I wasn't gonna go, but then I realised I had nothing to stay for and nothing to lose, so I kinda jus sat down looked how much money I have and looked my options.

The last few years i have been to a couple of music festivals in france, germany and slovenia and i went to them on my own and loved them, met loads of awesome people which has encouraged me not to be so bothered about going alone.

I had flights booked to india, london-Kuala Lumpur, then Kuala lumpur to India, but I decided Just to pay through the nose for a flight from Kuala lumpur to Melbourne, I had already sorted out a working holiday visa which was £150, and now I can't wait to go to be honest.

I spoke to a few friends about it and most of said stay, instead going and havin to come back in month after not gettin a job or whatever, but I thought id rather try it and if it didnt work out at least I had tried.

If you wanna talk about it properly if you have Facebook just add me on there, full name is Terry Devaney, profile pic is me at a festival sat on a chair haha xx
