hi guys, i'm joey a 22 year old from Bucks, England. I've been using travellerspoint for about three days now and i thought it was about time i formally introduced myself. I'm currently planning a solo trip to south-east asia which i will commence either at the end of july or the beginning of august. any people heading off at a similar time should definitely get in touch as i wanna meet up with as many people as possible. cheers, joey

hiya, blimey that was a quick response!!! um, i know exactly where i want to go, and i've looked at my atlas so many times that i know the geography of the region inside out. my only problem is that i haven't yet been and discussed my plans with a travel consultant. i would quite like to start my trip in japan, just spend a week there in tokyo and kyoto, and then fly onto bali and then malaysia, go to borneo, and then spend a while in thailand, before indochina. but i don't know if its possible to fly to japan, then bali, then to malaysia. and i have no idea how much it might cost. but i am definitley going solo and my contract runs out on 21st july so it will be very shortly after then. and i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm so looking forward to hitting the road again!! what about you? any interesting travel plans? joey

Hello Joey and welcome to TP!

I think those flights shouldn't be too hard to doctor out. Walk into an STA office and have a chat with someone there. I always find this useful since generally what I have planned might be doable but twice as expensive as doing it in some other order which makes it a pretty easy decision to switch :)

Besides that, there's nothing quite as rewarding as walking out of a travel agent after having booked a trip for a few months. I get restless just thinking of that feeling.... grrr!

Hey Joey

I'm planning on heading off round the world in October - now that I've decided to go I just want to get on the road! Restlessness has replaced depression I have a purpose again...

I'm in the research stages at the moment - not planning to book my ticket for a couple of months yet. It's so hard to decide on destinations - there's so many places i want to see.

I'm 25 and I'm going solo as well, so occasionally fear takes hold and I think I'm crazy for thinking of going to places like Bolivia and Nepal on my own, but scaring the sh*t out of myself is largely the impetus for going as well. He he. My poor mother keeps wringing her hands and talking about miraculous medals and holy water when I start telling her my plans

Anyway, good luck with all the travel plans and you never know, we might find ourselves in the same part of the globe on our adventures!

By the way (and I'm sure you've figured this out by now) this is a great w/site! Welcome.
