Hi everybody!! I probably shoul begin with introducing myself, so I live in Sweden and I'm planning a RTW in June 2006.. The thing is that I don't know halv of the terms you guys are using on this site (and in others).. So I'd like to know what all of you guy's means with "oZ"... NZ is probably New Zealand (if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.. As I said I'm new to this stuff..) but I can't really stop wondering bout that.. And if any of you who have travelled some, don't be afraid of giving me some advice..

Hi Edebarudo,

Welcome to Travellerspoint!

Where do you live in Sweden? A couple of us are meeting over beers in Stockholm tomorrow (Saturday) if you want to join, you're more than welcome! If it's Helsingborg, good luck today!

'Oz' stands for Australia. You'll also see this go down as 'Aus' and Australians be called 'Ozzies' or 'Aussies' (or worse ).

NZ is New Zealand, you're right.

Maybe we should have a 'terminology' ABC to help explain things which might seem common to a lot but aren't really???

Cheers,

Sam

Hi Sam!! Thanks for the greeting, but I have to say that I live in Gothenburg (that's in the south-west... :( )so I can't join you guys for the beer.. (And another why is that I'm 18 in September... ) But if you're planning a meeting in Gothenburg or somewhere close to it in the future.. Well.. I can guess you can count me in...

But about the "terminology ABC" thingy.. I think it's a great idea!! Some of the more unexperienced backpackers (like me ) could certainly need some help with the "complexed" language you nuts are using.. *heheh*

btw.. are you planning another RTW (I'm guessing youre quite experienced at RTW trips now...) soon? I'd really appreciate some help planning for mine...

Now that I am married it's a little harder to pack up and do a RTW. Of course it slightly depends on what you see as an RTW trip though; last year I spent two months travelling to Bali, Australia and NZ with my wife but wouldn't count that as a RTW. I'll definitely be doing more trips like that!!!

There's a ton of people planning RTW's now though. Have a look in the RTW forum and feel free to ask about destinations etc.

Cheers,

Sam

Thanks Sam! Sorry I didn't reply yesterday (I was on work and didn't have time to write :( ) but I'm seriously thinking over my RTW...

Now that I am married it's a little harder to pack up and do a RTW.

I'd love to hear what youre thinking about my route though.. I'm thinking Gothenburg - Mexico (haven't really thought over what city, just SOMEWHERE in Mexico ) - Kairo - oZ - NZ - Japan - China - Singapore - Gothenburg... What do you think?? Too long? too short? hehe.. Maybe I should add that I'm very low on cash (around $4200 USD).. Although you say you don't RTW anymore I'd like to hear what you think..

Hi Ebbe,

Does that money include what you are planning to use for the ticket? It sounds like a great trip with great destinations but a ticket for a journey like that will probably cost at least 2500 USD and then you'll need stuff like insurance etc. That leaves you with a little over a thousand to actually travel with which will last at max something like two months. With all those destinations, if you really want to see them, a decent trip would be closer to a year.

Probably it would be best to either cut out some destinations to bring down the price of the ticket or else to save a bit more....

Of course, if the ticket is already paid for, it's a different matter :)

Cheers,

Sam

Hi Ebbe,

Does that money include what you are planning to use for the ticket?

Hehe.. I'm sorry to say, but no... :)

I have recounted the money I'd make til June 2006 and it's closer to around $6900 USD... Kinda miscalculated some serious sh*t!!

Btw... I thank you for your comment's.. was kinda unsure of the whole economic situation.. Now I can plan so I can make my dreamtrip come true!! (hehe.. know it's kinda cliché but I can't stop myself..)

Cheer's,

Ebbe
