I work at sea and travel when not working. I generally pack to 30kg for luxury because if it's heavier than a 20kg work pay the fee for me.
I currently use a hardcase suitcase and I think it's about 90litres. This works as a nice guide for 20kg. However, sometimes with cobbled streets and everything the wheels are useless and I find myself balancing the 30kg on my head! So I'm looking for something with backpack straps.
I had a look at the NorthFace Doubletrack today. It's great but heavy at nearly 6kg! If I want to use this also in my spare time I'd be working with the new 20-22kg limits which are common now - I'd be eating into my weight limit too much.
I could get a big backpack but I don't do a lot of trekking and I'd prefer some wheels and a hard surface for protection. Then again... maybe one can get some wheels for rucksacks to add on... or bring a mini skateboard in hand luggage!
What do other wheeled packs weigh and are there any other options I haven't thought of?
I'm going to be using this thing about 300 days a year so I don't want to skip on anything no matter what it costs.
