tab123 has indicated that this thread is about Bhutan

Has anyone managed to get a visa for Bhutan and if so how can I get one? From what i can see, its $200 a day from certain tour operators.

As you found out, Bhutan only allows visitors to enter with a licensed tour company. They only want high end tourists. There is no way to visit Bhutan on the cheap. Good luck with your planning.

actually the price will increase to $250 in 2012. Bhutan is definitely a great destination though. Best to avoid monsoon which lasts up until Sep. Oct is a good time to go.

jphuntsho, yes please send a list of recommended tour operators? That would be really useful particularly if you have used any of them before.

If everyone is earning in US dollars, this is fine.
Even if every 3rd world country becomes a theme park.
