Hi Ranjan Kar,

Your route of Beijing, Xi'an, Chongqing, Yangtze River Cruise. Yichang and Shanghai is a most popular tour. If you are worried about language problems, you could join some seat in coach tours, which means you share the coach with the guide and other tourists around the world. So far as I know, in the big cities like Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, they have such trips, which enable you to visit also nearby cities. And you could be back to the hotel at the same day. For example, Suzhou, Hangzhou are really worth visiting near Shanghai. The price is competitive too. BTW, don't miss the Meglev in Shanghai!

Have a great journey.

Hi Foot_print,

Your comments more or less confirms the route I will take .

Also I had this thought of utilizing the local daily tours to get advantage of a tour guide and also a group I can communicate with .

Will certainly take the day tour to the cities you have mentioned from Shanghai .

I am thinking of beginning Nov to start tour from Beijing . Colder temperature does not worry me too much.

It would have been good to have one or two companions . Looks like I am destined to travel alone.

As I use google search for all the information , China certainly interests me a lot.

Thanks again for your contribution to this discussion.

All the Best

Ranjan Kar

If you come to Xi'an I suggest you visit Terra Cottta Warriors,Shaanxi History
Museum,Banpo Museum. Xi'an is really an inexhaustible treasure hourse of cultural relics.
And now it's Horticultural Expo time, here you can feel the charming of this ancient city.

Traveling alone is never recommended. You must have some one with your on your all inclusive holidays.Otherwise i will ask you to go with your friends if your wife is not going ready with you.
