i love these lyrics...muscian's name is Clem Snyde

don't let hurricanes hold you back
raging rivers or shark attakcs
find love
and give it all away
find love
then give it all away

wrestle bears
bring em to their knees
steal the honey from killer bees
find love
then giveit all away
find love
then give it all away

don't be scared to connect the dots
dig for gold in the parking lots
find love
and then giveit all away
find love then give it all away
find love,
then give it all away!

Some good lyrics,

"In the garden i was drowning my sorrows,
But my sorrows, they learnt to swim."
U2, Until the End of the World.

"Well, Jimmy played Harmonica in the pub that I was born."
The Pogues, (opening line to) Sally MacLennane.

"I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal lobotomy"
Tom Waits, dunno the song.

All involving the drink, lovely.

"I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie."

Neil Young "After the Goldrush"

"I could never take a chance on losing love to find romance" U2 (off the new album..not sure of song"

"Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
Silently closing her bedroom door
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
She goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her hankerchief
Quietly turning the backdoor key
Stepping outside she is free.
She (We gave her most of our lives)
Is leaving (Sacrificed most of our lives)
Home (We gave her everything money could buy)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye
Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown
Picks up the letter that's lying there
Standing alone at the top of the stairs
She breaks down and cries to her husband
Daddy our baby's gone.
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly
How could she do this to me.
She (We never thought of ourselves)
Is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves)
Home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye
Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
Waiting to keep the appointment she made
Meeting a man from the motor trade.
She (What did we do that was wrong?)
Is having (We didn't know it was wrong)
Fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy)
Something inside that was always denied
For so many years. Bye, bye
She's leaving home. Bye, bye"

The Beatles - "She's Leaving Home"

"These withered hands have dug for a dream
Sifted through sand and leftover nightmares
Over the hill a desolate wind
Turns shit to gold and blows my soul crazy
The end, Oh the end
We live again
Oh I grow weary of the end.."

Beck "We Live Again"

These always give me goosebumps:

"And the only thing that I could see
Was a pair of brown eyes that was looking at me
But when we got back, labeled parts one to three
There was no pair of brown eyes waiting for me"

The Pogues - A Pair of Brown Eyes

"Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight"

Bruce Cockburn - Lovers in a Dangerous Time

And, of course:

"And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love
You make"

The Beatles - The End

"I am sick of dour faces staring at me from TV towers."

"Death makes angels of us all
and gives us wings to fly
where we had shoulders
smooth as raven's claws."

"Lost in a Roman Wilderness of Pain
where all the children are insane"

The Doors (very good to randomly quote from a dark corner!)

On a happier note:

"So come fill up your glasses with Brandy and Wine
Whatever it costs I will pay.
So be easy and free when you're drinking with me
I'm a man you don't meet every day"

The Pogues

"It was then that I had enough
burned my credit card for fuel
Headed out to where the pavement turns to sand.
With a one way ticket to the land of truth
and my suitcase in my hand
How I lost my friends I still don't understand.

They had the best selection
they were poisoned with protection
There was nothing that they needed
Nothing left to find.
They were lost in rock formations
or became Park Bench mutations
On the sidewalks and in the stations
They are waiting. Waiting."
Neil Young, Thrasher.

Sorry, I just have to add these - I really like them

"An unseen force behind the turning leaves
Drives them all vermillion and green
YOu never gave up on me somehow
I dont know why I havent turned by now.

Oh I know LOVE sounds impossible...
But some words are just so hard to say
And there's times you feel unlockable
And all you ever want...
Is someone to open up and find a way in

Dont ever say you were wrong for me
YOu were always strong enough for three
I never let you in my world somehow
I'm asking you to please allow me now

Truer skies beyond the swirling clouds
The other birds are off and flying south
We'll have to make our own way there somehow..
I'm asking you to please trust me now"

Mercury Rev "Vermillion"

you should hear these lyrics to music!

I apologize right away for the length of the lyrics (what with this being the entire song and all) but this song DEFINES my life to a tee. Well take out the love and lust (I totally can tell them apart!), the eight pints and fights, and replace the Shakespeare with networks and you've got me!

Twentysomething - Jamie Cullum

After years of expensive education
A car full of books and anticipation
I'm an expert on Shakespeare and that's a hell of a lot
But the world don't need scholars as much as I thought
Maybe I'll go travelling for a year
Finding myself, or start a career
Could work the poor, though I'm hungry for fame
We all seem so different but we're just the same
Maybe I'll go to the gym, so I don't get fat
Aren't things more easy, with a tight six pack
Who knows the answers, who do you trust
I can't even seperate love from lust
Maybe I'll move back home and pay off my loans
Working nine to five, answering phones
But don't make me live for Friday nights
Drinking eight pints and getting in fights
Maybe I'll just fall in love
That could solve it all
Philosophers say that that's enough
There surely must be more
Love ain't the answer, nor is work
The truth elludes me so much it hurts
But I'm still having fun and I guess that's the key
I'm a twentysomething and I'll keep being me

Here's something to think about:

"Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume
Schopenhauer and Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist.

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away
Half a crate of whiskey every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart:
"I drink, therefore I am"
Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed!"

Monty Python - Bruces' Song aka. Drinking Philosopher's song
