I am looking to travel to Italy and Greece for 3 weeks next year (around end of April/May). What would be the best way of fitting everything in? Tour versus cruise? Independant travel versus tour?
Any suggestions would be welcome

A tour is the easiest way but is fairly expensive. Then again it does usually cover all travel, all accommodation, all food, guides, entrance to sites, no hassle with baggage, etc so can be worth it. Cruises are often just one spot in a country so you are not going to see a lot. Tours do start around April and are cheap then. Maybe two separate tours?

Years ago I did a good tour of Greece with archersdirect which seemed to take in most things. There are a number of different tours to Rome. If you take a tour, make sure it visits all the important places as some of the cheaper ones do not.

Great thanks. I was thinking to either take two tours (one around Italy and then another around Greece) or perhaps one I saw on Trafalgar Tours which incorporates both. Starting in Rome and ending in Athens. I then thought maybe after that, I can go to Santorini and spend around 3 nights there.

I think it would be better to go touring alone. You could probably lay out a plan on which places you would want to visit in Italy and Greece. Then, give estimates on how long would it take you to visit them. Divide the entire 3 weeks among that itinerary.
