craigwalsh has indicated that this thread is about Belize City

Myself and my Wife to be are planning our 3 week Honeymoon to Belize, Guatemala and Honduras in May 2012. I have used Travellerspoint in the past to help plan my year away in Australia and am now asking for any pointers from the knowledgeable team here on the site.
We are wanting to have a few days of luxury but are happy to spend about 80% of the trip "Backpacking" our way around, love action and adventure, would love to see great areas to photograph, some places to get into the ocean and see some amazing wildlife and put ourselves in a position to really experience the three parts of the country (or further if someone has an amazing suggestion).

A massive thank you in advance for any help that you can give, if you or someone you know is going to be there from 7th May to 27th May 2012 then please let me know.

Thanks Again

Hi Craig,

From any online or hard copy guidebook I have come across about Central America, the most comprehensive and practical information can be found on Let's Go travel website.
Also, an interesting reading on the region written by an enthusiastic cyclists can be downloaded from here.

Best wishes for the newly weds! :)

The three countries are in many respects quite third world and not wholly safe. I would certainly not advise anyone to go back packing in any of them. Do buy insurance in case worse comes to worse.

I'm living on a sailing boat in Panama, caribbean side. I propose sailing trips with my boat to the San-Blas Islands, a fantastic archipelago of 365 islands starred on 50 nautical miles along the coast. Just some of them are inhabited, and only by the khuna amerindians who manage theses islands and resist to the pression of promotors. They are still like they were when Christopher Colombus arrived! You will have a good idea about what they look like puting "San Blas" on Google Images or Youtube.
I also propose sailing trip from Panama to Colombie and vice versa.

Saludos y feliz viaje,
