Hi, im going to be in thailand in late december through january and was thinking about doing some trekking in northern thailand. Ive looked at a bunch of tour groups that want me to book now but im traveling solo and i want to have a open itinerary for unexpected new fiends and adventures we might get into. So i was thinking of getting a map and other supplies and trekking with a few other travelers i meet along the way. Is this possible and safe, or extremely dangerous and unrealistic?? If anyone has had this same idea and experiences or wanting to do the same thing, please let me know. Thank you in advance, Steven.

Hey Lenny, I know there are plenty of trails out in the Chiang Mia region and my goal is to find some other travelers up for some trekking without a guide to some of the hill tribes. I think going with 4 or 5 like minded travelers would really make for a great experience.

What dates are you going to be in thailand? I land on the 21st of december and staying till january 22nd.
