A ticket to Vietnam is around £600 and is only £400 to Thailand so would it be cheaper to bus it from bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City?
A friend said they sorted there visa for thailand out on the plane, anyone else done it that way?

Thanx, Jim.

Hmmm.....I just notice that the distance is only 754 km (469 miles ), similar to Bangkok-Chiangmai. The thing is that, the two country are not connected. It's almost impossible already to find a bus to go from Bangkok to anywhere in Cambodia. Hard to imagine about any kind of ground transportation for the route in your question.

The main issue here seems to be the "service" (which does not exist) of the country in between. :-)

Most of the people travel to Thailand instead of Vietnam if they have enough time and want to travel also inside Thailand.

You can do it by flight, surely Thai company. Check it.

Or, if you want to go to Southern Vietnam, you have to cross to Cambodia. It is a great oportunity to visit Angkor. We dit it some years ago, it was perfect.

If you have time, it is cheap to bump around Thailand and into Cambodia, on to VN. I have done it from Pattaya to Koh Kong to Phnom Penh to HCMC. Let me know if you need details.
