I'm flying to Bangkok in April next year. I'm going to be going away for a year altogether and seeing Australia, NZ and Fiji, but Thailand is my first stop. Flying into Bangkok, but then I'm not sure where to go to next. Here's what I want to see/where I want to go:

- Bangkok (I've heard it's not very nice and have been advised to stay there no longer than a few days)
- Chang Mai
- Laos
- Cambodia
- Vietnam
- Hiking/Trekking
- Full Moon Party
- Amazing beaches (Want to visit some of the islands)

Can anyone advise me of the best route to take, how long I should stay in each place and anything else I should see etc? Thank you.

Ooooh

Totally doing the same route except taking in Beijing first and working my way down to Singapore but only have 2 months to do it! I'm sure I'll get to see all of the above-fingers crossed.

Looking forward to seeing all of the replies from the experienced peeps!

China has crossed my mind, but how cheap is it over there? It's so big as well that I'm thinking I'd maybe prefer to do it when I have more time. Although, maybe I'm over estimating how long I need to spend in places like Laos, Chang Mai, Cambodia etc?
