i plan on a uk working holiday looking for work in a pub with live in accomodation. i am going to go through london pub to help me secure a job before i leave. what do you think of this idea? what do i expect for accomodation/food/facilities? is 200 gbp a week good when all my meals and accomodation is paid for?

I met a Canadian couple who worked in London for two months in a bar and got cheap accomodation as part of that job and they loved it.

However, they were quite lucky.

£200/week isn't bad though it really depends as to how many hours you're working. For a six hour work day five days a week it works out at just over £6, which I think is the minimum wage, which if all you're food and accomodation is paid for will be fine.

If the work load is any more than that then it isn't a good salary at all and probably illegal...though don't quote me on that.

But go for it, London is the greatest city in the world :-).

Unfortunately, Malaysians (as mentioned in your profile) are not eligible for the UK working holiday visa (officially Tier 5 - Youth Mobility Scheme).

Hi, just googled regarding the eligibility for The UK Working Holiday Maker Visa, and found out they brought back some of the restricted countries to the scheme!

Any Formal UK-WHM?? maybe can help us on some enquiry regarding applying The Visa?

TNT is a free magazine geared towards backpackers in the UK. It's focussed primarily on London, but there are job postings from all over the UK. You'll find it near hostels all over London.

It's a great resource for backpackers for jobs and travel deals.
