Travelling Europe alone

Travel Forums Europe Travelling Europe alone

Hi, I've been reading up on other people who have travelled solo but I'm still not convinved. Basically i feel like I'm doing nothing with my summer and after watching a few inspirational films (A map for saturday for example, definitely recommend to anybody who hasn't seen it!) I am absolutely aching to travel.

I've got a few friends who say they might be keen, but not confident they really are, a lot of procrastination going on and I just want to get out there! I'm from near London, UK and only have a budget of around £700. Im kinda asking a lot here, but wondering if anybody has any advice on travelling/where to stay, what sort of length im looking at given my budget and anything else you could think of. Primarily I guess im unsure whether I'd want to travel alone if my friends end up not coming. I like the idea but is it a risk?

I've travelled europe before for 3 weeks with 2 other people by car (Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Geneva, Monaco, Bordeaux) and I'm happy to stay in cheap hostels. I loved Germany (lived there for 5 years growing up!) so ideally would love to return to Berlin and Munich, perhaps another city in Germany?

Thanks for any help anybody can give!

Stu

As much as I'd love to visit Australia, my budget definitely restricts me! Although I do have family in Queensland so accommodation would be free

ummm, some very helpful advice indeed.

There are so many places you can visit. I think you can stretch your money out to two weeks by staying in hostels and not eating out too much. Just come up with a list of the places you would like to visit and then develop an itinerary. Consider events such as Oktoberfest too.

Don't worry about travelling alone. You will meet so many people in hostels. You won't even feel like you are travelling alone. Just be friendly and don't be shy to talk to people. Most of them are travelling alone too and usually love some company.

With the 14 days, I would go four or five places max.

Good Luck and go for it.

P.S. my suggestions for places to consider are Paris, Interlaken, Salzburg, Budapest, Prague, Rome, Berlin, Barcelona, Lisbon, Greek Islands, Croatia, Montenegro.
