kjense33 has indicated that this thread is about England

Hi All,
I'm going to be shipped off to England mid January to participate in the BUNAC program. Just wondering if anyone else was doing the same and if so, if they wanted to meet up and room together possibly?
Kristen

Hi Ian,

Off the top of my head... British Universities North America Club.... but their site doesn't mention what it stands for and it isn't really relevant anymore since they are now a global organization. It was started I believe after the second world war as an organization helping british students set up in the States and find work. That is more or less where the name came from and now they organize working holidays worldwide, aupair stays, internships etc. etc.

Kristen, I am sure at the orientation (I believe these are held after arrival) that you will meet heaps of folks that are all in the same situation and looking for a place to stay.

I used to work for BUNAC's partner in Australia and that is how it usually worked. 30-60 travellers in for an orientation, all about the same age and lots of them planning to stay in Sydney. As you are all (this was the case in Sydney) staying in the same hostel it is also an idea way to get to know a lot of new people quickly. I believe the orientations in England are even with larger amounts, but of course they might not have the flair my Australian colleagues and me had (sorry, couldn't let that one pass!).....

While I lived in Sydney, this was usually how I found new roommates for the house I was staying in. There were between 7 and 10 of us there at any given time and every time a new one would pick up and leave, a replacement was easily found at the orientations.

Hope this helps... I am sure it is quite similar to the BUNAC England set up!

Cheers,

Sam

I am taking part in the BUNAC London program in March. I am excited to finally get to travel. Any other BUNAC graduates have any tips to share?

Hey Louisiana,

Have you given Kristen a try??? She might not be a graduate yet but looks like she's getting started right about now! :)

Tips to share... buy good insurance, have cash available (or parents to bum it from) and ENJOY!!!

Cheers,

Sam
