im planning to go from Beunos Aires to San Francisco and have a couple of south american questons

As part of this trip I want to go from Beunos Aires to Tierra de Feugo then to Chile and back up. Since Pantagonia is so big I'm wondering what the good places are to stay and see there.

In Argentinan Patagonia:
Puerto Madryn, Ushuaia, Esquel, El Bolsón, Villa La Angostura, Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Junín de los Andes, Glaciar Perito Moreno......many many beautiful towns.
Here, a link to an argentinian backpackers page:

Patagonia, and for that matter, the entire south of Argentina, is big. Depending on your timeframe and budget, you could safely go from BA directly to Puerto Madryn if animal-watching is interesting to you (sea lions, sea elephants, penguins, and depending on when you travel, whales) and then FLY to Ushuaia (290 pesos, roughly US100). Or, the buses here are super comfy and reasonably priced, half that of the flights, but we're talking about trips up to 24 hours at a stretch.

Ushuaia is worth visiting for more reasons than to say you've been to the end of the world, nice multi-day and day hikes in the national park and surrounding area. You won't want to miss Calafate (Perrito Moreno glacier) and El Chalten (Mt. Fitz Roy) and finally, Puerto Natales and the Torres del Paine national park. These are the biggest, most popular things to see. Have you bought the Lonely Planet Patagonia book? Most people here use it, gives a good idea of what to see.

Good luck. I'm here right now, write if you have more specific questions.
