hi all
Im booking a trip for travelling in September. I was planning on doing a "round the world" trip, on talking to a friend of mine Im half tempted to just go to oz. What do people reckon? Am I better off just going to Oz?

I would say no! Definitely go just to Oz! That was far and away the least remarkable part of my round the world trip, plus it is very, very expensive. Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, etc, etc for me are much more satisfying places to travel then Australia.

Definitely make sure you go to New Zealand though!

yeah Im on the fence about travelling now cause Im doing research and does look to be expensive, where as in Oz I have a few different places I can stay so I wont have to pay for hostels too much.

South-East Asia isn't expensive at all though. You are looking at £5 for a decent hotel, £2 for a meal, travel costs are minimal. The joy of travelling is meeting other people, and whilst it is good once in a while to stay with friends, etc, staying is hostel is the best way to make new friends.

yeah I completely agree with you about the hostels. lots of things to see in oz so I might just travel throughout there and NZ
