so im in phuket right now, im totally strapped for cash and awaiting a long overdue application form for a working holiday visa in australia....
I have the opportunity to start working as an OPC in timeshare, which i know alot of people doing and can be good money, only catch is ive to sign a contract for three months. and yes i could just leave whenever i have enough money but the only catch with that is that the guy who is getting me the job, says if i leave before the end of the contract he could lose his posirion in the company, id get him into trouble.
so you see im starting to feel a biut trapped, but ive got no money and my visa has not come through yet so i need to do something fast.
i was thinking of maybe trying to find work in malaysia?
would trying to get to australia by boat be cheaper?
to be honest i dont really like it all too much here....
im just trying to do anything i can to broaden my options so if anyone has any suggestions or anything that would be great.
thank you very much
over and out
:)

What marketable skills do you have?

Cheers,

Unless you have some special skills, any work in Thailand or Malaysia is very poorly paid (since they can get locals to do the same).

Visa overstay in Thailand is 500 baht a day, upto 20,000 baht limit. Though it almost never happens, caught overstaying outside the airport can mean prison till you can pay (Catch 22). So maybe get out of Thailand quickly?

A UK embassy could put you in touch with someone who can send you money but will not supply you with any money themselves.

From Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia does cheap flights to Australia, like about 8,500 baht (plus taxes and fees) on 10th August to Gold Coast. Some other airlines may have cheaper fares as this is low season.

I have known some women who worked in timeshare and they barely scraped by, sharing an apartment with a few other women in the same business, till they have saved up enough to go home. Timeshare is about empty promises, even to it's sellers.

yes ive been keeping track of the flight tickets, you can get some pretty good deals, but i read something somewhere about it being a promotion period or something, do you think there is a risk of the dlight prices going up again in the near future?

yes timeshare does seem to be way too good to be true...
im just waiting to find out if the autralian visa works. maybe i should just get out of thailand and try couchsurfing in malaysia, hope my visa comes through and go to australia if it does, if not head back here and take the job?
thing is i really am completely skint,
i can borrow probably about 300 for flights, other than that i only have 20 in the bank. timeshare will get me a visa and pay for a months accomodation... so you see the apeall...
thank you for your advice, as you can see its all a bit confusing right now :)

why don't you just go home then??

because im already in debt, my flights home to england are from bali,
i will not go home to the poeple that have lent me money they dont have because i promised i would give it back to them while working in australia, and work in england for a third of the amount i could be earning, meaning it would take me three times the amount of time and more because i have to pay people back of solid working, maybe like 8-9 months?
i know i saved up every penny for my travels working 4 jobs simultaneously at home.
i want to go to south africa, i want to be a part of my brothers lives before they are grown ups and now is the only time because i also want to study fine art in berlin and that would take up 3 years... i need to earn money faster than is possible at home.
im not going there just for a fun holiday you see, im going there because its alot cheaper to fly from here and i know i can earn so much more, i have friends over there tight now doing the same thing.
you see?
i know ive kinda thrown myself in the deep end rather underprepared for obstructions, but i would rather have tried the best i can than not tried at all, and im not ready to give up :)
