Hi everyone,

I will be spending 4 days in Kuala Lumpur on the way to Thailand. There are 2 things that I would really like some advice on. Firstly where to stay, looking for somewhere fairly cheap and central. Cheap as possible really without it being a dump. Anyone who has stayed in Malaysia in a place that's sounds appropriate it would be much appreciated.

Secondly what to do. I know it's very broad but just need a few ideas of really good things to do maybe 6 or so good fun things to see or do in kuala lumpur for 21 year old travellers. The only thing ive heard to do so far is go to a Market and go up the large towers. Any help would be great. Thanks

Check the Accommodation in Kuala Lumpur, you'll find hostels with ratings and a map of their locations. A couple I know which my friends have stayed and were happy with are RedPalm and Green Hut. Both are on the same street at the Bukit Bintang area (shopping places) with monorail link from the KL central station (which connects you to the airport). I'm sure there are others as well around the same place or at other places.

For sights and activities, see the Kuala Lumpur travel guide on this site. There are quite a few things to do and see there, but you definitely should not miss Batu Caves. The KL Bird Park is also recommended. If you stay in Bukit Bintang area, check out Times Square, an 11-storey high shopping centre with a roller coaster ride inside. There's also a water theme park (Sunway Lagoon) just outside the city proper.

Hey!

Been to KL twice and going for a third in Feb as a stop over to Laos and Thailand :)

Definitely check out the Batu Caves, if you love shopping there's about 8 in Kl alone, The Pavilion and Time Square are probably the only decent ones.

You've got the Petronas Towers which are amazing. Get in early (like 8am) to que up to get a ticket to go to the observation deck, they only issue 1000 tickets per day to go up.

Recommend KL tower at night good view of the city and then head over to the Hard Rock cafe for a drink :)
