Help for SE Asia?

Travel Forums Asia Help for SE Asia?

Hi there!
I'm looking to do my first (of hopefully many) South east asia trips at the end of this year.
We're planning to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Laos for 6 to 8 weeks.
My friend and i (we're both female and 22 if that matters) are looking to explore and enjoy ourselves with fellow travellers.
I am unsure as to where to start!

Where to fly in (from Australia)?
Which route to take to get the most out of our time?
Where to visit for young girls who want to enjoy themselves but aren't huge fans of big touristy nightlife (embarrassing fellow australians are scary!)
What am i looking at as far as a budget, including food, accom, day trips and any travel between countries.

I'm so sorry for the long list but this is all very overwhelming!

Also, we'd be looking at ending our trip in Thailand as a few friends of ours will be in the area at the same time as us.

Thank you so much in advance, i'm sure you've been very helpful and i couldn't be more grateful :)

You should book your air transportation asap as this will be high season, and this type of travel is in demand. Bangkok is the main hub for travel in the area, but you should pick your airline first since different low cost carriers will land at different airports. Check out the websites of Air Asia, Jetstar and Tiger to determine which LCC is best (I like Air Asia, and they can get you to Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur).

Since you're starting from scratch, I'd recommend getting a guidebook or 2. Travelfish can help with these hints for buying air travel.

Just came across this Straytravel site - looks like something you might enjoy (Thai/Laos)
