Bonjour everyone!

I am new to the forum and I would like to know if my around the world trip is realistic or not?! (please see below for full details)

My girfriend and I are going for an ATW for 4 months in September with a £10,000 budget for together (flights, visas, vaccinations not included).

I know there is a lot of information but I would very appreciate if someone could tel me if the itinary, timing and budget are realistic?

Thank you in advance

Quentin

A bit late to comment on part of your itinerary where you already have booked flights. Remember that seats may go quickly so don't leave it too late where you have yet to book them.

Maybe a bit too long in America, which will be expensive and where much of your money goes. People tend to fly anything but short distances there.

Just as well you are going to Niagara Falls overnight by bus as it's an incredibly boring journey but only a short hop on a plane. 55 mph along featureless tollways quickly becomes old.

I found some hours in Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara sufficient but you may like longer.

In your place I would have had maybe four days in Phuket and stuck the rest on my Indian holiday. If you don't want to explore the country you can take days out on the train from Delhi, up north and to the east and maybe south.

I normally have to tell people not to try to do too much but with your time scale and money, I'd do a lot more. You could have done South America, China, Japan and visited some other places in Australia. It seems a long way to go for just a few days in Sydney.

Thank you so much to take the time to reply Cyberia.

I know that the American part will cost us a big part of our budget but it always been a dream for us to go there.
You are right, I think we will fly more than take long journey bus, I've checked and there is not much difference in term of price and that will be more convenient. Thanks for that.

Question for american accomodation: we are travelling as a couple: do you think that it will be cheaper to go to hostels or to get a room in a 1 star hotel or cheap motel?
I could understand that when you book a double room in a hostel the price is per person... but if you book a cheap hotel the price is per room.

We already live in Australia for a year that's why we are staying there only few days to say hello to some friends.

We were keen to do the golden triangle in India and didn't know muh about other places. Could you recommend us an itinary for India or some very nice places to go.

Thank you again
