I soon will be in Phnom Penh, and would like to travel on to Thailand...either Bangkok or Pattaya. The airfares I have been quoted from Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways seem incredibly high. So high in fact that I will not pay it.
Are there any low cost carriers plying this route?
I had been considering the ferry from Sihanoukeville around to the south eastern coast of Thailand...and then traveling on by road, but have been told that this ferry service is no longer operating.
Can anyone help with information here?
Air Asia has cheap flights between BKK-PNH. Another option is to head for Sihanoukville for some beach time and then make your way to Pattaya or BKK via road. My blog covers my overland trip to Pattaya from S'ville in one day. I made it in one long day for about $20. Now that the bridges are finished, it should be an easier trip than I experienced. Capitol GH in PP runs a bus: PP to BKK as well. That would not be my 1st or 2nd choice. Good luck with your planning.
Bus from Sihanoukville to Bangkok was 21-22 dollars. so it must be 20.
From a hostel in PP, bus to Bangkok was 14 dollars... that is what I saw on the board. I should have taken that. PP to Sihanoukville is 5 dollars, but then you'll need 2 dollars for the TUKTUK to take you the beaches... Go to Serendipity beach.
Thanks to all for the help...I really appreciate the information. I reckon I will try for the Air Asia flight.
