It depends what you want to do and see. If you want a safe and friendly environment and you never travelled to Asia before, I'd warmly recommend Taiwan. Taiwan is not such a famous touristic place, so you won't see a lot of westerners there. But personally I prefer it that way. ;) If you are looking for a more touristic place, Thailand might be worth a try, although I have no experience about it. Japan is also very safe but not really tourist friendly in my opinion, as few people speak english and it's always so hard to find informations in English. :( I'm travelling in Tokyo right now and will visit Taiwan again on August 28th. Feel free to take a look at my blog at that time, I'll keep my blog regularly updated.

if you just want to lie on a beach, then Thailand or the Philippines
if you're after wonderful food and like cities, then Singapore or Hong Kong
if you just want to explore and like exotic places, then Vietnam
if you don't have much time or money, then Laos or Cambodia
backpackers do quite well in Indochina, and money lasts forever

Nothing beats doing some of your own work, something as simple as checking some travel guides out of a library to see what rings your bell!

Not everyone does the same things on holiday. Some people prefer beaches only and others prefer culture, history, geography or even nightlife. Even being a young backpacker or or retiree could influence what you prefer.

Money! Some countries in Asia are more expensive than other countries. If you are rich you can go anywhere - even Bhutan! But if you have less spending money you have fewer choices.

Plan a budget - see what you can afford and plan your holiday around what you can pay for.

Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore will be more expensive than Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

If you have never traveled before to Asia, as it seems, Thailand is a good "break in" country for a beginner. Also, from Thailand you can visit Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia.

Visas depend on the country passport you travel with! All countries are not treated the same.

It all depends on what you are interested in. If you want an adventurous plus a cultural tour then I think India would be the best place to visit as India is adventurous as well as rich in culture and heritage.

It covers all hill stations in North India and along with that beaches in south India and Goa.So this sets India apart from other island destinations in Asia. Also the climate is very suitable for the tourist. And its safe too....

India also give you a glimpse of its wildlife so you can get close to the nature. The festivals and events in different parts of India makes your trip a bit more enthusiastic.

The best part is that you experience all these things in India within few days if you go for a tour package and balanced trip .
Hope this helps you decide!!!!!!!
