Best country in Asia to visit?

We are just back from India, having backpacked India for 4 months from the south (Kanyakumari) to the very north (Kargil). Best value for money. Great people. Yummy food. A photographer's dream. A mix of touristy but still pleasant places (e.g. Hampi, Mamallapuram, Leh) and locations of the beaten track where the people are interested in you as a person, and not in your wallet. Go to India! Japan, China, Thailand, Singapore. Those countries are lovely!

LAOS

Laos is the country I prefered in Asia.
If you are not like lying on a beach you will appreciate the beauty of landscape, the kindness of inhabitants, the variety of ethnics traditions.
And it's a cheap destination.

For myself, to date, it is VIETNAM. Lovely place with friendly people, crazy history, great food and unique culture.

as been said, it depends on many things such as your interests, budget, time, also if you prefer touristy places or less touristy. I would recommend a country where you know local people, if you have a friend who can arrange a visit of her/his friends back at home it could be a real experience of the culture & I was really impressed by Japan. Yes, people don´t speak english but they are very helpfull, we travelled to different places and had no problems.

Thailand! It's incredibly gorgeous and fascinating. The beaches are pretty spectacular (Phi Phi islands and Phuket) but the mainland is endlessly interesting and wonderful too - Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, etc. And inexpensive!

why is crazy history???
I voted for Vietnam. This country is wonderful place for toursits where you not only explore the nature with trekking to the moutain but also feel the high quality of service without paying too much.

I think Malasia,Tailand,singapore are best country to visit.
