Hi all,

I am flying to Aus, NZ and south east asia in December.

I am booking most of it through STA travel but need advice on travel insurance.
I want to do activities such as bungee jumps and sky diving. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurer for backpackers that they have been with?
I was thinking of going with STA's own but having searched for other providers i have found them to be quite expensive!
Any recommendations will be most helpful.

If you are doing anything remotely dangerous, you must mention it to an insurer beforehand and pay the extra money. If you do not, they will not pay out if you injure yourself in such a pursuit. Remember having had a few too many drinks can mean they do not pay out in some incidents, even though they had nothing to do with the accident.

There are not really any cheap quotes for such activities as they may have to provide an air ambulance to get you home, expensive hospital treatment and such. Also your beneficiaries have a greater risk of collecting on your life policy.

People do moan about the cost of such policies meanwhile hoping that they do not get their money's worth out of them.

One possibility which has some leeway for active young people:

If you are planning to take a travel insurance policy, you should carefully choose that policy. You should check if it is covering all your needs or not. As far as I think each popular insurance company provides covering for some activities like bungee jumping, sky diving and many more but before buying a policy you can clear all your doubts.
