I'm trying to figure out how to see the catacombs when I only have a day in Paris. Heard the lines are really long if you don't get there before it opens.
My flight lands at CDG at 8:20am. My hotel is in the Latin Quarter next to the Sorbonne and Pantheon so I'll take RER line B. In order to do the Viator "skip the line" catacombs tour, I have to be at the catacombs by 10:40am, which is probably unrealistic given customs, 40 minutes on the train, checking into the hotel, etc.
If I go first thing the next morning before I leave for Bordeaux I'll have my bag with me. Do they have a place to store bags at the catacombs?
What I hate about the French metro is often that there can be a lot of walking between stations when changing lines and between trains and exists. Also a long wait to get a ticket while some retard in front tries to work out what day it is.
8:20 am is of course the rush hour and the trains are full of people, as are the routes between stations, trains and exists. It also takes considerable time to deplane, to walk a long distance, maybe use the train or bus to the metro station, etc.
Customs look for nervous people. Do not look at them, resist an urge to scratch an itch and walk at a casual pace, not too fast and not too slow.
Hotel check-ins are often afternoon, so if you are thinking of doing a tour with a bag (which you can put somewhere), why not on arrival day?
The Gare du Nord does have lockers (consignes) in 3 different sizes which are available from 06:15 to 23:15 if you want to leave your bag there early the next morning.

Thanks! Leaving my bag in a locker in Gare Montparnasse and getting to the line before the catacombs open is probably my best bet. Trying to avoid the 2 hr line wait, which is why I won't do it on my arrival day. Fortunately, the two spots are relatively close together.
