I have bad credit but want to see the world. Is it possible to use a pre-paid credit card for booking (flights, hostels, etc.) And other travel purchases rather than a normal credit card. Specifically in australia/indonesia. Thanks for your help!

Get a debit card, where the money comes from your bank account.

Travel agents in those countries will book flights for cash over the counter.

A bad credit rating can be challenged and in some cases, cleared after a certain time as it is known that people can go through bad financial periods.

Get a debit card. Find a credit union near your home, they are very easy to deal with and often you also get free travelers checks too. Often the credit union will pay for some of your ATM charges too from other bank ATMs. The money comes out of your checking account - if you have the money you can pay for plane tickets and even use debit cards overseas! I have a couple debit cards with credit unions and I use them overseas all the time. One credit card has Visa affiliations and the other has Mastercard - never had any problem with them in Thailand, Philippines and Singapore.

I do limit the amount in my debit card accounts. That way if my card is compromised what I lose is just what is in the account. There is no protection like credit cards have when you have a debit card. When my debit card account is short on cash I transfer some from my bank account using the internet and Bill Pay. Works okay for me!
