Can anyone recommend good hostels in Sydney. I'm a 25yo female planning to live/work in Australia for a year and land in Sydney on 17th Oct - just in time to skip the nasty British winter!!
I'm travelling by myself so would really like to stay in a hostel that has a friendly environment and lots of other people in a similar situation to myself. I love to socialise and go out, but at the same time I don't want to be out until 5am every night - and at 25, am slightly older than the younger 18-21 crowd - so i'm not sure if Wake up etc will really be my thing! But i'm very open minded, so any suggestions are more than welcome.
ps to anyone who is nervous about travelling by themselves (particularly females) don't be. I know/have read about so many people who have done it and had the time of their lives! You will meet so many people it will be almost impossible to be alone. I can't wait!
Well I'm going to be in Sydney in the New year also and have booked into Wake Up, a little apprehensive as i'm gonna be 30 at Christmas so yes i think i could be classed as the slightly older crowd to... but hey were all there for the same reasons pretty much, so a few years in age difference should make that much difference right..!?
Are you planning on staying/working in Sydney for your duration?
I reccomend Sydney Central YHA. I stayed there for almost 1 month in 2009. The location and atmosphere is really good. The staff is friendly, and the facilitities are nice as well. There's also a free cinema every nigt. The kitchens are big and well equipped.
I travelled alone and I was 27 years, slightly older then some of the other travellers. But there were also people on my age, and older.
I stayed in ony girls dorms. And it was a good way to get to know other backpackers.
Next time I'm going to Sydney I'm definitively staying there!
(Pardon my english, it's a bit rusty now..)
