I was thinking Richmond is the best option. Any suggestions? Thank you. :)

Richmond is quite nice but fairly expensive as far as accommodation is concerned.

A decade ago I spent some time in the Crystal Palace area and that wasn't bad, and a lot cheaper.

oh really? I would love to live/work somewhere in UK, but it's expensive. I'll check out Crystal Palace. Thank you.

London. No question.

Richmond upon Thames and Crystal Palace are both in London!

Unless you mean Richmond, Yorkshire which is very nice but definitely not a city.

I like Brighton, London, Edinburgh, Oxford, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle. In roughly that order, but they all have rather different things to offer, it really depends what you're looking for.

There is a Channel 4 site on this very topic http://www.channel4bestandworst.com/

Personally, I'd say by the sea, but the problem is work.

There's more chance of better work in or near the major cities.

However, nearer to London and the prices go up.

Parts of Wales are nice, if you like it a bit wet :)

Are there still nice cities in the UK? Honestly?

Manchester - great nightlife, shopping and restaurants, a thriving arts scene and excellent transport links.
