I am thinking of leaving in October 2012 and the route I have planned is:
Delhi overland Kathmandu -> Bangkok (Travel Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia) -> Hong Kong -> East Coast Australia-> Christchurch overland Auckland -> Fiji -> Los Angeles overland New York.
How long do you think I should spend in each place and should I add a few more stops or change one or two. I do not have a time limit just until money runs out, but I will most likely work in Australia for a while.
I would appreciate your opinions.
I'll be leaving for my first RTW trip this November, and have given most of my destinations minimum 3 weeks timeline with the exception of Hong Kong which I'm only planning on staying maximum a week. After reading many blogs & postings, if you don't have a time limit, I think most suggest approximately a month to really known a country and have a more relaxed pace of travel.
Hope this helps! I might share more once I'm actually on the road.
Your route plan suggests that you are skipping Europe. Is it so? Anyways India would take around 4 weeks atleast while one week is more than enough for Nepal and Hongkong.
