Hi Leigh,
I am just off from SEA trip, but mine was different from yours, since i got only 10 days. I have visited Singapore, HK, Macau, and Philippines.

My suggestions are :
Day 34 to Day 37, One day you can spend in Macau, if you are interested in Casino. Its easy to go there by Ferry just one hour travel. Most of the LV casinos are there here, must see place. Inside Macau, Casino buses are available at free of cost to their casinos.
In Philippines, Boracay is an island destination. But you need 3 days for this. Its small island, but getting here you need lots of transfers (Air, Road, Sea).
In Thailand, Places to see are Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, are in southern thailand. Its near to malaysia. You can include this too.

I guess those suggestions are from places which I have visited, I dont know about other places which you have mentioned in your itinerary. Do R&D on this. For above places I chose AirAsia, NokAir, TigerAirways, SEA airways and Zest Airways.

If you have any queries, do ask me regarding above mentioned countries.

Hey Weknows!

Oh i left out Thailand coz i went there earlier this year for 12 days!! :). you'll love those places mentioned!!

Macau seems pretty cool! Might have to get a different visa though? I'll do some googling :)

Thanks for your response!

I have gone to those places which i was mentioned.

Macau does not require visa I guess, Since its only for casinos, they love to welcome peoples from other nations. Just check for your passport, whether they require visa or not.
But only thing, those peoples dont know english. So better take map from Airport/Ferry Terminal. For casinos you can use thier bus.

Also its just HK$ 120 for one way travel to Macau from HK, you can also visit Shenzhen, China. But you require chinese visa for this.

Regards,
Vinoth

I have been in Indochina region couples of times. I would say:

Day 18 – Phnom Penh > HCMC
Day 19 – HCMC
Day 20 – HCMC
Day 21 – HCMC > Danang > Hoi An
Day 22 – Hoi An
Day 23 – Hoi An
Day 24 – Hoi An
Day 25 – Hoi An
Day 26 – Danang > Hue
Day 27 – Hue > Hanoi
Day 28 – Hanoi
Day 29 – Hanoi > Halong Bay (Can't miss this!)
Day 30 Halong Bay > Hanoi > Sapa by overnight train
Day 31 – Sapa
Day 32 – Sapa > Hanoi by overnight train
Day 33 – Hanoi > Hong Kong

Best time in Sapa: Week-end (Saturday - Sunday) and 1 night in Phnom Penh is enough, or even you can cut off Phnom Penh as it is easy to go from Siem Reap to HCMC either by bus (one day) or by flight.

Thanks for the tip!

Is there a bit to see/do in Hoi An? And skip out on Da Nang all together?

Yeah i tried to fit Halong Bay in but not sure how long to spend there?

Also, Can you book overnight trains to Sa Pa on the day of departure?

Hi: 2 days for Hue is the minimum. In 2010, we travelled SE Asia and stayed at Hue for 3 days, it was almost too short. Have a look at -snip-. - Happy travels, Konni & Matt.
