What is cool about Scotland I'd like to travel there, but I'm not very versed in the places to go and hidden gems?

Thanks, Matthew

A hidden gem is hard to give, as it's a hidden gem

Pick up a guide book on Scotland and see what you like. There are places like Edinburgh, Stirling Castle, various islands, Loch Ness, John O'Groats, etc.

You can even go south of the border and check out Hadrian's Wall.

I took a Ryanair flight to Prestwick (Glasgow) some years back, picked up a car and drove all round Scotland for a few weeks, staying at B&B's.

However what can make or break such a holiday is the weather. I had good weather.

Hi,
my personal preference goes to the Highlands.
Skye is a hidden gem as you say and all the Hebrids islands near by.
Check my blog, you will see more details.
Enjoy Scotland (I do!):)

This is my last day in Scotland before I fly to Wales. I have been here for about a week and there's lots to do! Edinburgh is a great city with the Royal Mile, the Edinburgh castle, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Camera Obscura, and lots of different tours to choose from. I went on a Ghost Tour under Edinburgh which was pretty cool. If your don't want to be in the city for a long time I would suggest taking the train and heading to Dundee and exploring there. It's about an hour train ride from Edinburgh.

Oh and you gotta see the highlands especially now since all the hills are turning purple! There's a cute hotel called The Glen Clova Hotel right in the highlands, I think they have a hostel connected to it if the hotel is to expensive.

Hope you decide to see Scotland I'm glad I did!

If you like to discover the cities, all those are worth a visit:

Edinburgh
Perth
Dundee
Aberdeen
Glasgow

If you prefer to enjoy the nature around you:

Loch Ness (Fort Augustus, Uquhart Castle)
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park
Ben Nevis and Glencoe region
Cairngorm Mountain
The Inner Hebrides (especially Skye and Mull)
The Outer Hebrides (Lewis and Harrys)
