I know there are many questions of similar nature but I was hoping for some information and advice. If i have been to prison in the last year is it likely that i will get a visa to go on holiday for 2 weeks?.

The reason why I ask is I would like to go and see a friend in Michigan who I have'nt seen in 14 yrs and we just got back in touch in April. But I have been convicted of Fraud twice, both where stupid errors of judgement and which I deeply regret. The 1st offence I got a 12 month conditional discharge for 12 months and the second I served six weeks in prison in the last year. Please any information/advice good or bad is very much welcome.

Thank you.

I suggest you check out the related threads on this-many of which are listed just to the right of the area where you post appears.

Generally, if you committed a small crime--no problem--but if you committed armed robbery or sexual crimes--or a major drug crime, then you usually are out-of-luck. The US already has over 1 million people in prison--most for drug crimes--and the USA state department has enough problems tracking possible drug runners or terrorist groups that they frown heavily on giving these people visas.

But, I'm not the expert on this--so like I said--check out the other threads.

This subject has been discussed ad nauseum on many threads. Here's one recent example:

In any case no one can give you any advice when you fail to provide even minimal information like your nationality and in which country your legal troubles took place.

Good luck.
