'I can't properly apply myself to job hunting whilst I am dealing with a break-up', you can actually find the answer on your own statement. Basically, choosing career over travel with this condition seem to be a BIG NO!NO! How can you possibly concentrate on your interviews? But still, there are things to consider like money perhaps? Do you have enough money to spend for your 3-6 months travel? If not then find another resource to let out those negative energies. If yes then go for it! Age is not a problem when travelling for as long as your heart is into it.
After 12 years of work (post Graduate) I decided to go on a long holiday, that was 321 days ago, over 150 thousand Kms later and 29 distinct countries through Antarctica, North South and Central America and the Caribbean, and Asia I'm coming to the end of exploring India.
Never looked back, loving it, will keep it up for another year at least. Also India is country 106 in 12 years!! Live now!!! G
This is such a good post,
Ive been taking a lot of advice from your posts myself actually lol. Im heading off on my travels and have booked a flight to Bangkok 25th October and doing some travelling for a year. Been getting cold feet recently so its been good to see this post. By the way is anyone heading off soon and want to meet up?
Without reading the other posts since it's too time consuming I would like to say a few things that is my personal opinions and should not be consider as absolute truth, everyone is different.
You might find yourself through travel, you might not. The thing to remember is that you have yourself inside all the time. You do not need to do more than look inside to find yourself and your truth. But to travel might be a way for you to realize this. Traveling is fun, adventurous and challenging..just like life is supposed to be(remember this is my truth/opinion)! If you love what you are doing, you will be successful(originally said by Buddha) and you are on the right path. You are never too old for anything. You are the creator of your life so if you feel like traveling and explore, then do it! If you feel like sitting behind a desk and work 5days a week and 8hours a day(just a guess) then do it!
My personal experience is that traveling opens up your mind, gives you a lot of friends and experiences, puts yourself to the test and pushing the limits and makes you see life in a different, more harmonic way with an attitude of gratitude and joy.
This planet is a bliss and you should see all the beauty it has to offer, wether it's buildings, people, animals or nature.
I hope you will have a good life, no matter what you do
Hi, I am new in this forum so gain knowledge this forum.....
You should travel to Rajasthan(India) and see Rajasthan culture. Here you will find some adventure places and supportable peoples.
Sounds like a good time to travel to me! You might not get another opportunity like this again where you don't have career and relationship responsibilities and maybe you'll always wish you did.
Travelling can also look good on a resume these days. After all, it's a unique experience that not everyone has, that can broaden your world view.
TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL!
Seriously, this thread is great! So many people in the same boat. So many great points have already been made, but if you are seriously considering it, then go for it. What is the worst that can happen? You don't enjoy it, and come home to restart your career.
remember, all work and no play makes Juan a dull boy.
everyone deserves a breather...even you.
