Hi Jane-Marie
I havent booked flights yet, but I'm planning to fly from Oz to Thailand in mid-late Jan 2012. I havent really done my research yet but think atm, plan on spending about 3 months in SE Asia as its so cheap and everyone keeps telling my how awesome it is.
How long are you planning to travel for?X

Generally you don't need to arrange your accommodation in advance Jane-Marie, I never did when I was in SE Asia before, although possibly it might be worth sorting out your first couple of nights. There are plenty of cheap guesthouses and hotels everywhere, willing to accommodate you.

Hi...This is Maddy Here...i have been there a couple of times and will be there in November end. It is advisable you do the bookings in advance.. kinda helps!!
Jane, let me know if you wish to travel around November mid and i can suggest a couple of great places at an affordable price depending on your budget

hollaaaaaaaaaa!!!

yes your right in thinking jan-march is the best time go,this is the "hot-dry" season and there peak season!!!

as for things to do and places too see, well it depends what your looking for....

if you want old school thailand, temples, old ruins, jungle, hill tribes, trekking, mountains etc etc then id recommend anywhere north on bangkok....kanchanaburi,pai,chiang mai, chian rai are my favourite...erawan waterfalls just east of kanchanaburi is defo worth checking out too!!!

the further south you go the more westernised it becomes, however some of the islands are defo worth checking out,ko samui, phi phi islands and ko phangan of course for the full moon parties!!!!also if your not easily offended and up for a good time and getting completely sozzled then maybe head to patong in phuket too, head for bangla road!!!its an experience to say the least!!!!

il say no more!!!

good luck!!:):)

Hi Jane,

I'm also looking to do a Thailand trip around that time. By the sounds of it, I'm just as flexible in terms of dates and times as you are. Let me know if you're still looking for a travel buddy!

Matt

Hi Jane,

My friend and I are travelling to Thailand for about 3 weeks in end of March, start of April 2012!! As of yet we have no real plans, I probably would like to see all these paradise islands i hear about, but would also like to see the non westernized areas up north! Im also looking into Cambodia, but don't know if I'll have the time.

We are first time travellers so naturally a bit nervous.

Get in contact if you would like to meet. I reckon the more people together the better. Hope this helps

Trish xx

I'm planning a trip to SouthEastAsia including as many countries as possible. Length of travel is open.
Departure date is flexible: approx. March 2012 and leaving from Vancouver Canada.
I'd like to visit Bangkok again and am open to any of your travel ideas.
Budget is backpacker-style )
age & gender irrelevant
just more fun than going solo
