Fitness First are by far the biggest chain of gyms in Sydney. They can be found in lots of locations including several in the CBD. On the whole, their facilities and membership prices are great.

However, invariably with FF, you will have to sign up to a 12 month contract, payable by direct debit.

Be warned that once you are signed up, it is very rare that FF will let you off your contract. I had to return home due to a serious illness in my family but FF were having none of it.

I can't speak for other private gyms as I never visited any but I'd think it'd be rare for any to beat the location, facilities and/or price of FF.

Sign up with Fitness First and simply cancel your credit card when you want to cancel the contract.

Anytime Fitness don't have any contracts (just have to give a months notice when you want to cancel), you'll pay about $50 a month. They are open 24/7 too.

Dude Fitness first is probably your best bet. Yeah you have to sign up to a contract but you can sign up to one where it is called a passport ( I think ) and you can use them all over oz! Thats what I am doing at the moment like.

Plus you can do what James said as my pal who has gone back to the uk now dud the same thing.
