Hay everyone,
I'm traveling alone to Thailand & Oz early next year no set date but between mid January to early Feb. Was just wondering if anyone else will be heading around that time? Also does anyone recommend going to Thailand first or going straight to Oz then back to Thailand a few weeks later when I get my bearings as I've never traveled alone?

Talk ja soon

Luke :)

I wouldn't spend a great deal of time in Thailand guys, i done a month there last year including a week in Laos. If your going that way anyway, spend a few nights in Bangkok then get straight on the plane to Laos, what a place that is....(Hidden Gem) its ten times better than Thailand. Unfortunately the place is just full of tourist traps now, once you been one place you pretty much been them all. That's not taking a way that its still a great country, it can just be done in a shorter timescale in my opinion that's all.

On a lighter note, i'm gonna be in Sydney End of Jan if your guys are about.

All the best

Hayya, i'm planning to go australia around February time on my own also. was thinking Melbourne
was a good start point, then somewhow travel to Sydney and along the gold coast ect, really was hoping to travel to new zealand, as i've always wanted to go. as for Thailand i havnt really thought about it, but i know its sposed to be an experience.
Would be great to get to know some people travelling around those areas at that time.

I went to thailand in April this year, was awesome! So much so I'm going back in January for 2/3 months to do a work placement, then I'm off to oz for a year or two.

I would go to Thailand first, breaks up the journey nicely. How long you planning on being away for? South east Asia is awesome and I would advise seeing some more of it other than Thailand if you can, but Thailand is a good starting point if you have never been to that part of the world before.

I'l be living in Chiang Mai in the north from mid January for at least two months maybe three then heading to either melbourne or Brisbane, maybe going to Laos or Malaysia for a couple of weeks before that. Give me a shout if your in chaing Mai at all and fancy a beer!

Hay Lads
Timtan25 I'm like yourself ill be traveling around anyway bus, train or whatever handy at the time.

Steve never really thought about New Zealand but say it'd be a great place to see as well as its close to Oz might be able to get cheap flights.

Lukeyboi I'm defo going to be heading to Thailand first I decided. I'm going to be traveling for a year maybe 2 if it all go's well I got a 12 month working Visa for Oz. Were you on your own when u went in April this year? I've been thinking about traveling around the rest of Asia if I get on alright in Thailand 1st its the 1st time traveling on me own ye know don't know how it'll be.. mad in a good way hopefully ha

Hi Luke,

Don't worry! Travelling alone is the best, nothing can compare it. You can enjoy a lot alone, watching the inspired people around.

Best of Luck!

Whats the best way to meet people if you are travelling on your own? Everyone says hostels are a good place, is it easy to mix with others there?
