Hey All! I'm another Irish lass heading off in March or April, going to do dome volunteer work in Thailand first for a month and was then hoping to travel around SE Asia for maybe a month before going to northern Austrailia for a week or two. Have no plans after that, hoping to travel about and work (only when funds are short of course!!) for a year!! Exciting times! I'm off to USIT tomorrow to see what the craic is with flights and visas! I'm pretty nervous about going it alone but really really excited for all the adventures! Do you have your flights booked?? Anyone around Thailand at the beginning of April/May?
your plans sound great, i love the sound of volunteering, where are you going doing that??? Ill be in Thailand for 3 weeks, arrive on March 30th and leave again on April 19th!! Can't wait. Will be arriving into Perth after that! How did you get on with USIT?? i booked my flights last week and am already starting the count down!!
Ooo that's so exciting to have it all booked!! I was in USIT on Thursday, the man said that the volunteering programme that I want to do has changed recently from a minimum of one month, which is what I wanted, to a maximum of 2 weeks!!! It's in a children's orphanage near Chang mai, he's going to get back to me as soon as he knows more about starting dates and stuff. I was also chatting to a friend who recommended going to volunteer at The elephant sanctuary so I'm going to look into that too, it sounds amazing! What are your plans for the three weeks in Thailand? Would be great to meet up if we would be there at the same time!
Yeah I gave a quick look at the elephant sanctuary too, Id like to do something a bit different and exciting while I'm in Thailand too!! no real plans yet, although I was thinking we arrive into Bangkok on a Friday, so may stay until the Monday then travel north for 6 or so days, then come south to the island for 6 or 7 days then back up to Bangkok for a final night or 2 before we leave for Perth. would be great if your there, the more the merrier, and we can do some of these things together!! let me know when you get dates and we can discuss things then :D
