Im Juliette, ill be 20 in 2012.
Im French but my English is fluent (dont worry!) and Im looking for English speaking travel mates.
I really want to start my RTW trip with India in oct 2012. However i dont feel like going on my own for 2 months, ive heard its not really safe for female travellers and id love to share this experience with some fellow travellers. Itd be awesome if we were a little group but id be glad if we’re at least two!
I was thinking maybe start with Delhi, Rajasthan, then go up north to like Palalumpur then id like to go south, see agra on the way & maybe kolkota, then goa, mumbai and end up south in the tamil nadu state. In a word, do as much as possible in 2months (i might extend to 3 if it appears to be wiser). Ive found some quite cheap volunteering programs, so i might stop in some places for a week or two.
I have a few friends who have been to India before so im currently waiting for their tips and advice about 'must sees'.
If you have another plan for the itinerary im quite flexible we could work it out together! If we dont have the exacts same plans for the whole trip, at least we could do bits together… Im really flexible as long as im never alone!
I might go to Thailand for 2 or 3 weeks after that (depending on how long i stay in india) before heading to Australia, NZ and fijis. If you guys want to join, itd be obviously great! (but im less worried about travelling alone to those places than India!)
Feel free to contact me, if you have questions about my plan, or if you want to join!! Id love to find travel mates asap so i make sure i can go to india!
Hope to hear from you soon!
I would suggest you start probably a month later say...Nov, the climate will be much better.
DO visit Dharamsala, which is close to palampur, try & chalk out route on Google maps.
Visit north of Delhi & travel south, try & visit Amritsar the Golden temple, then travel south via Bikaner in Rajesthan, I am not a fan of Jaipur, but would recommend, jodhpur & Jaiselmer.
If you want to experience the wild life, specially the striped tigers, best place is Bandhavgadh, which you could do when you visit Kolkata(western India). I can put you on to a jeep driver to take the necessary permits & take you inside the jungle.
Goa & south of India is best during winter months, I could help you locate good deals may be even join for part of the trip, Try & visit Hampi a UNESCO site & an ancient civilization.
I would prefer to take this route to do a part of north India.
I am Dr.Pranab want to join you at Guwahati Assam India. If you want we can chat and proceed. Please let me know about your Email Id etc.I am very much keen to go with you.
There is no need for any anxiety, you will meet on your own very nice people at different stages. There is no need to worry!!
Perfect to arrive Delhi it is already very pleasant here, and then take a tour of Rajasthan.
1.Delhi/Jaisalmer/Jodhpur/Udaipur/Jaipur/SawaiMadhour-Ranthambore/Agra/Jhansi - Orcha/Khajuraho/Jhansi/Varanasi/Delhi.
3.To Mumbai and then South when its cooler.
You can book your tickets in advance. Also check out the site of Indian railways to know about Indrail Passes which are cheaper.
Else you can buy individual tickets. IRCTC has stopped the site for booking tickets check out cleartrip.com for rail tickets.
This apart there are many itineraries you can chose from.
If you have another plan for the itinerary im quite flexible we could work it out together! If we dont have the exacts same plans for the whole trip, at least we could do bits together… Juliette
