I had no trouble with ATM withdrawls in Thailand (despite my bank's total ineptitude). I did, however, have money stolen from my room. It was a reasonably nice place that I had been staying at for a long time, in all I had the equivalent of £150 stolen. When I reported this the hotel didn't even take note of it.

Be VERY careful where you keep your cash, hidden pockets in jeans seem to do the trick for me these days.

Best of luck,

Al

Sometimes when you have money stolen from a hotel room it is not the hotel staff but the guests you allow in who commit the crime.

Even cheap hotels have safety boxes or safes.
